GAI Consultants is actively seeking a a Director of Engineering for our Jacksonville, Florida office. This is a critical position, leading GAI's Civil practice in northeast Florida. As one of the region's largest engineering firms, GAI has a significant presence in the Jacksonville market with staff of over 60 professionals supporting numerous key public and private clients with exceptional planning, surveying and engineering services. As a key leader within GAI, the successful candidate will play an integral role in growing the business in Northeast Florida while expanding GAI's exceptional reputation. As a Director of Engineering for Community Infrastructure, the candidate will support the market to develop client relationships and manage a team of Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Technicians. This candidate will be responsible for leading project pursuits and the marketing of clients, including public and private clients in Northeast Florida and statewide as well as delivering quality projects on budget and on time. Hybrid work location is a viable option.

As a Director of Engineering for Community Infrastructure, this candidate will support the market to develop and manage a team of Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Technicians. This candidate will be responsible for leading project pursuits and the marketing of clients, including public and private clients statewide as well as delivering quality projects on budget and on time.

This candidate will also be responsible for monitoring and managing the financial performance of all projects under their direction and the overall performance of their department and team.

Reimbursement of relocation expenses will be provided for out-of-area candidates.

Hiring Bonus will be included in addition to base salary

Job Duties:

  • Develop and directly supervise a team of project managers, engineers, and technicians for the implementation of public infrastructure projects and/or private land development projects.
  • Identify project pursuits, market clients, and manage pursuits including proposal and presentation preparation. Coordinate and develop proposed scope, schedule, and fee for projects pursued and lead the interview team.
  • Actively win new work from both new and existing clients by building and maintaining customer relationships, monitoring future work opportunities, communicating regularly, and attending client events.
  • Collaboration with other GAI services such as transportation, water, CEI, planning, and landscape architecture/planning to market and deliver full-service project opportunities to clients.
  • Directly manage projects on time and within the project budget and maintain a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Monitor and manage financial aspects of all projects within the group. Travel is estimated to be approximately 15% to other offices, meet with clients, attend project-specific meetings, and business development.

Qualifications

Education
Bachelors of Engineering (required)

Experience
8 years: 8 years serving as Project Manager leading and directing projects, preferably with an engineering consulting organization or similar professional services firm. (required)
15 years: 15 years of total engineering or technical experience required. Demonstrated sales experience in acquiring new clients. (required)
15 years: Experience directly managing all sizes of public and private infrastructure design projects. (required)
15 years: Experience supervising groups of design engineers and technicians. (required)
15 years: Experience preparing technical qualification statements, proposals and presentations for the pursuit of transportation design and/or design-build projects. (required)
8 years: Demonstrated mastery of fundamental project management skills and use of PM advanced techniques and practices to increase productivity, efficiency and accuracy. (required)
