We, Slack, are looking for a Staff Software engineer to join our Data Tools team! The team is responsible for owning and maintaining tools that facilitate the development of a data-driven culture. These tools empower the generation of insights and visualizations, thereby enabling informed product decisions. The team collaborates with Product engineers, Analysts, Data Scientists, and other users and contributors at Slack to offer tools and visualizations for creating dashboards, querying data, running metadata, alerts, and more!

We are in search of individuals who have extensive experience in Data Engineering and Front-end development, are highly product-focused, possess sophisticated technical skills, and thrive in contributing to a multifaceted analytics platform. You should be self-sufficient and deeply passionate about making a significant impact at Slack. Your role will involve translating complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions, delivering impactful products and tools for data analysis to support the business.

You will instrument in empower the entire Slack product organization to adopt a data-driven approach. You'll collaborate with and empower analytics efforts across multiple functional teams, including Product Management, Software Engineering, Research and Analytics, Sales, Security and more. What you will be doing:
  • Design and drive the execution of our data visualization and tooling roadmap to establish highly resilient, scalable, and reliable methods of data consumption.
  • Collaborate with data users to comprehend current and future data requirements.
  • Advocate for good UX practices with React, Typescript and ANT Design.
  • Provide mentorship and guide the team forward through technical expertise.
What you should have:
  • Possess a strong grasp of the latest data tools in the market and bring valuable cross-industry partnerships and knowledge to the team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, effective communication skills, adaptability, and a continuous learning mentality are crucial.
  • Strong proficiency in database management systems, cloud platforms(AWS, K8s), and data processing frameworks(Airflow, Trino, Spark) is required.
  • Experience building and debugging sophisticated systems in a team environment.
  • Validated experience writing client-side development for 4-6+ years (Javascript/Typescript, React, Redux)
  • A strong focus on UX and design, coupled with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience

For Colorado-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $185,800 to $269,500.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
