The Washington, DC office of SmithGroup is currently accepting applications for Architectural Interns for the summer of 2021. Aspiring Architects who thrive in an environment of collaboration and mentoring, and who demonstrate a high degree of creativity are encouraged to apply.

Working with us, your responsibilities may include:

  • Performing specific/limited portions of architectural assignments under direct supervision
  • Designing portions of projects under direct supervision
  • Documenting changes to architectural drawings as instructed
  • Consulting with manufacturers, research and evaluate materials
  • Contributing proactively to the project team
  • Receiving and following directions for project assignments
  • Managing own time based on directions given

An ideal candidate:

  • Is pursuing a degree in Architecture with a minimum of 3 years of education.
  • Has a good working knowledge of Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Design Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrates strength in design.
  • Is creative with an innovative spirit.
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage time well.
  • Communicates and works professionally with all levels including co-workers, management, clients, etc.

SmithGroup's internship program provides students with the opportunity to apply both classroom learning and past experience to real world application. Interns will participate in hands-on project work, office activities, and site visits. Internships and internship activities may be "virtual" or a hybrid of virtual/in-office pending state/county requirements regarding safety procedures.
