Job/Internship Description
Medica is a non-profit health insurance company headquartered in Minneapolis with offices in St. Paul, Duluth, St. Cloud Fargo and Omaha. The company is active across the heart of America and provider health care coverage in multiple markets. Medica is engaged in our communities through the charitable grant-making work of the Medica Foundation and through active employee giving and volunteer programs. Due to COVID, Medica will host a virtual, 12-week, paid Internship Program. Interns will have the opportunity to network within Medica and with other Interns through . weekly Lunch-and-Learns and opportunities to hear from Medica's Executives. We strive to offer a well-rounded education of the inner workings of a health plan. Each internship offers a meaningful experience and impactful projects you'll be able to discuss with future employers. Interns have the opportunity to hear from past Medica Interns that were hired on as well as attend a volunteer opportunity within the community. At Medica, we look forward to our Summer Internship Program each year. The Product Strategy and Development Intern will collaborate with the Product and Portfolio Managers and Product Leadership to support product initiatives and goals. The Intern is expected to support key accountabilities related to product initiatives. The position is responsible for providing project support and coordination as needed to the product team and Leadership. Additionally, the Intern is expected to demonstrate curiosity and interest in research and information gathering around new and innovative solutions for employer wellness. Education Level: Junior or Senior level Preferred Major: Nursing, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Dietary, Wellness, Exercise Science, Health Coaching, Allied Health Professions (PT, OT, ST), Communications, Community Health Specific types of experience preferred: Previous work or volunteer experience in the health and wellness arena; such as nutrition, fitness or health care. Skills and Abilities: * Computer knowledgeable * Detail oriented, strong verbal and written skills, organization, negotiation, creativity and willingness to be flexible * Must be focused, task orientated and analytical * Work and take direction with limited supervision * Is a self-starter; enjoys working autonomously and completes projects on time * Successfully enlists support of internal contacts and builds rapport for on-going professional relationships * Leads projects that meet objectives within specified timelines
