THIS POSITION IS APPOINTIVE SERVICE

$270,000 annually.  Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications.  Central Area/Rockledge/Travels Countywide.  Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Performs the forensic functions of the Medical Examiner’s Office providing proper investigations of deaths and determining accurate cause and manner of death, which includes evaluation of current and anticipated inquiries for the County.  Office workload is 1180+ autopsies annually.  

 

REQUIREMENTS:  Most possess, or have the ability to obtain a current license to practice medicine in the State of Florida, as required by the Florida Department of Professional Regulations.  Pathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Forensic Pathology is preferred.  SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment.  In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster, that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
