Assistant Director of Nursing - ADON

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to children, adolescents, and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our three outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active-duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical

dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression.

In conjunction with the Director of Nursing (DON), the ADON is responsible for the administrative and clinical supervision of direct patient care including effective utilization of the nursing process to provide quality care, establish standards of practice, and provide effective fiscal management. Ensures quality client care that is in compliance with regulatory requirements, professional standards and the facility's policies and procedures. Provides leadership in maintaining standards for professional Nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and implements scheduling, onboarding program, orientation, audits, teachable moments, incident reports, staff competencies and corrective actions regarding attendance and works to carry out any committee recommendations.
  • Assists DON in hiring, supervising, developing, evaluating, and disciplining staff and/or monitor supervisors' management of staff. Oversees attendance, missed punches and lunch breaks through monitoring and corrective action when needed.
  • Monitors department(s) on an ongoing basis and adjusts FTE to patient census via staffing grid and nursing protocols. Directs staff rotations and reschedules personnel to meet increased or decreased nursing service demands.
  • Acts as House Supervisor on assigned shifts.
  • Oversees staff compliance with required hospital orientation, certification, licensure and trainings. Ensures staff is knowledgeable and competent to perform duties by providing orientation, training, and continuing education as reflected in departmental policies and records.
  • Communicates policy, procedures, work expectations and standards of care. Assess performance and make changes to assure the seamless and conflict-free delivery of care.
  • Monitors quality of care provided on units and the outcomes influenced by behavioral care programming. Works with interdisciplinary team to resolve any issues affecting quality of care. Works with the interdisciplinary team regarding 1:1 patients and keeping restraint and seclusion within both ECBH and UHS standards. Assists with action plans to improve services. Reviews incident reports and works with DON for any needed system changes or education.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients, families, staff and the general public as needed. Assist DON with patient and family complaints. Responds to inquiries and provides information on nursing care and services, and may screen prospective patients to assure the facility has the ability to provide the care needed.
  • Produces, creates, and provides quality and timely reports/audits/documentation on a daily/monthly/quarterly basis, as required (e.g., QAPI, Flash, etc.). Attends daily, monthly, and quarterly meetings/events as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited curriculum required. Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years' experience in Nursing Administration or Leadership preferred. Experience in psychiatric nursing or inpatient behavioral health preferred.
  • Current FL RN License or Compact License
  • Ability to work a Monday-Friday schedule with the ability to adjust schedule to meet the needs of the department.
