Data Engineer, Offer Management System

Are you the next Offer Management software data engineer we are looking for?

  • You will be responsible for the development of our Offer Management products
  • You will be at the center of Amadeus business: our technology is behind every content and price proposed by the airline on any sales channel (mobile, agency, meta search...)
  • You will have the opportunity to work on high performance, high availability, high scalability, cloud applications (Ms response time, hundreds of thousands of transactions per s)
  • You will have a data centric approach (TBs of data from shopping to booking, segmentations...) when designing and developing solutions
  • You will contribute on data engineering, development, maintenance and evolution of our data science models and their execution within our offer products.
  • You will join in the exciting migration of this platform to the Microsoft Azure public Cloud leveraging the latest standard technologies.

In this role you'll:

  • Formulate the customer and business problems into data problems
  • Design data pipelines , Automate data processes
  • Work closely with data scientists and devops in order to create and industrialize advanced analytics solutions
  • Provide data engineering support for internal & external stakeholders
  • Communicate and translate data pipeline decisions & their implications to business stakeholders
  • Collect and manage large data sets
  • Provide expertise on architectures and support platform migrations across networks and data center
  • Define the necessary infrastructure and services to deploy Big Data solutions
  • Maintain technical, functional, business and commercial awareness
  • Deliver autonomously software within Quality standards defined by the company.
  • Maintains high quality coding and validation standards throughout the development cycle.
  • Have the opportunity to work with following technologies and many more:
    • Databricks/Spark using Scala language
    • Hadoop HDFS
    • Distributed event streaming - Apache Kafka
    • Distributed search engine - Elasticsearch
    • Programmatically author, schedule and monitor workflows - Apache Airflow.
    • Monitoring, visualization and alerting - Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk
    • Data mesh, security in the cloud - Azure objects

About the ideal candidate:

  • Education: Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant technical field, computer science and applications, modeling, statistics, analytics and math
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Has 1-3 years working as a software engineer, big data developer or similar role
    • Possesses deep understanding of statistics, Machine Learning algorithms and data modelling
    • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
    • Experience in the airline industry is a plus

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and be comfortable working within an ever-changing environment.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
    • Ability to analyze objectives, considers options, and plans and manages appropriately.

  • Technical Competencies
    • Experience with Python andSpark
    • Experience in manipulating high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
    • Experience in diverse programming paradigms (Scala, R, C++...)
    • Experience in one or more Big Data products (Databricks, Dataflow, BigQuery, Apache Hadoop, Spark, Beam, Kafka, Cassandra, Impala etc.
    • Familiar with cloud providers 'ecosystems (MS Azure is a plus)
    • Familiar with version control tools such as GIT and proper branching techniques.
