Job Description

Job Summary:

The Planner will be responsible for independently collecting, assimilating, and managing land use and regulatory planning, community planning, and urban design project information for the team; prepare project requirements, constraints, and opportunity mapping and required analysis; assist in the preparation for and participation in client and public information meetings, site data collection visits, stakeholder interviews, charrettes, and in-progress reviews; prepare viable courses of action alternatives for evaluation including proposed plans for Department of Defense (DoD) facilities and installation requirements; and prepare high-quality illustrations and narratives for master plans and site-specific area development plans. The position will support federal and non-federal projects while ensuring delivery of the highest level of geospatial services and products for our clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support senior planners and/or project managers in producing master planning documents for federal projects.
  • Support project team in data collection and data analysis.
  • Preparation of plans and maps, GIS production, report graphics production, and workshop meeting documentation.
  • Support project teams during client workshops.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, or similar field of study.
  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 2+ years of related planning experience is required.
  • Ability to obtain AICP certification.
  • Preferred: knowledge of federal planning with the Department of Defense (e.g., Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force), or related experience.

Knowledge Skills or Abilities Desired:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an understanding of project timelines and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent note-taking skills
  • Skills in ArcGIS.
  • Skills with MS Office.
  • Strong graphic skills.
  • Skills with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for several weeks at a time.
  • Adherence to project schedule milestones and deadlines.
  • Professional presentation/communication skills.
