Description

The Engineering Technician is responsible for build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production components, parts, equipment, and systems by applying principles and theories of engineering, mathematics, testing and physics.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Circuit troubleshooting and data collection to include power supply, analog and digital circuits to the component level.
  • Perform various research and administrative duties in support of SNC
  • Conduct and record results of hardware and software tests
  • Assist Manufacturing in troubleshooting, rework and repair
  • Assist in transfer to manufacturing of new products

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Read and follow electronic schematics, PCB layout drawings, identify components, and have excellent knowledge of electronic principles and practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills - at system, board and component level, perform failure analysis.
  • Strong surface mount technology (SMT) soldering and rework skills including fine pitch and leadless package
  • Excellent mechanical assembly skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of ESD, RoHS and IPC standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office applications.
  • Experience with DMM, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzers, Function Generator, Frequency Counter, digital logic analyzers, programmable logic devices and JTAG tools desirable.

Academic Requirements:

  • Minimum two-year Associates Degree in Engineering; a Bachelors Degree is preferable.
