POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary function is to prepare each patient for the appropriate ophthalmic exam and/or procedure, perform all appropriate tests, both routine and those ordered by the Ophthalmologist. Compile appropriate documentation in Allscripts/Medflow (Electronic Health Records) and to compliment and facilitate the Ophthalmologist as much as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, skills and experience:

* Certification by JCAHPO preferred.

* Clear English communication skills, written and oral.

* Current Professional Rescuer CPR certification (only acceptable programs are American Heart Association and the American Red Cross) or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment required.

* One year or more experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant in an Ophthalmic Practice required.

* Knowledge of Ascan/Bscan preferred.

* Must have knowledge and experience with ophthalmic equipment and procedures such as a projector, tonometry, keraomerty, pachometry, slit lamp, PAM, glare testing, auto refract, Humphrey Visual Field, corneal topography, fundus photography, and ocular coherence tomography, etc.

* Dependable transportation with the ability to travel to various locations required.
