Description

this position will train on 1st shift M-F 7-5 and then move to swing shift 7am-7pm (A/C) shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Report to Shift Supervisor for instructions and creel assignments
  2. Upon arriving at assigned machine, locate all paperwork
  3. Assist Machine Operator in checking all specifications for the style being produced using either Tape Measure or Stitch Gauge, as needed
    1. Width
    2. Primary Backing
    3. Yarn Lots
  4. Assist Machine Operator with any duties necessary to run machine in accordance with specified roll requirements on Tufting Work Order, MSP7 Att2.
  5. While machine is running, perform a visual Quality Inspection. Check for the following:
      1. Streaks or Crossed Ends
      2. High Lines
      3. Loops
      4. Ends out (Missing Ends to be mended)
        1. Mend using proper mending techniques with mending gun
        2. Make sure mend matches face of turf
        3. Clip mend when complete and remove any loops

If any of the above or any other non-conformities are found, do not start production on machine until issue(s) is/are corrected. If issue cannot be corrected at machine, contact Tufting Supervisor immediately. Do NOT start machine until approved by Supervisor.

  1. Write roll number and place water tag on all rolls at the beginning and end of the roll.
  2. Watch tufting roll meter while machine is running to make sure that roll is made to specified length. Once roll size is correct, mark roll at the specified length for doffing. If rolls are being combined, make sure to mark edge of roll at proper length and do not cut roll.
  3. When doffing roll, make sure that 3 strings are used to properly secure flap of roll. Make sure the edge of each flap is tacked in the corners to prevent any folding during transport and storage. Secure roll ticket packet (with ticket inside) on roll.
  4. Once roll is doffed, entered production into computer. This will release the roll for further processing.
  5. When starting new roll on roll-up keep turf straight to prevent wrinkles.
  6. Assist Machine Operator in preforming a crossed end check (if running a Dual Fiber system) at the end of every roll.
  7. Assist Machine Operator in obtaining a weight check at the first roll following a creel change or order change.
  8. Keep work area clean at all times
  9. Notify Supervisor immediately of any Safety, Quality, or Production Issues.
  10. Follow all company regulations as specified in the PlayCore/Sprinturf Employee Handbook.
  11. Follow any and all other tasks as required by supervisor.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills

Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
