Work Hours: 8am-4:30pm Salary Range: $13/hr-$15/hr
The Medical Records Technician maintains the facility's medical records and is responsible for their accuracy, safety, and confidentiality. Under general supervision, responsible for daily processing of medical records.
Responsibilities
Responsible for collection, processing, filing, maintenance, storage, retrieval, and distribution of medical records according to facility policies and procedures.
Reviews records for completion at summary level. Pulls record folders for discharged charts. Identifies and merges duplicate medical records.
Preps all chart forms, correspondence reports (e.g. operative, lab, electrocardiogram, x-ray, pathology, etc.) in appropriate order per facility policy/procedure.
Files Birth Certificate with Bureau of Vital Statistics within 3 days of delivery.
Collates loose file materials with existing files into electronic medical record system.
May be responsible for scanning all records into the electronic medical record system on a daily basis.
May be responsible for indexing all documents to the appropriate patient folder and ensuring each document is assigned appropriate document name.
Performs other miscellaneous office/clerical duties as needed
Qualifications
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Minimum Work Experience
1-3 years medical record experience and/or customer service experience Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Basic Computer and average typing skills.
Verbal and Written communication skills.
Detail-oriented.
Ability to Multi-task
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Ability to prioritize work.
Ability to work with others in a team environment.
