Position Description
Job Title: Engineering Technician - Product Development
Reports To: VP of Technical Services
Scope: As an Entry-Level Product Development Engineer focusing on heavy-duty vehicle parts, specifically the bus segment, you will play a crucial role in the procurement, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of parts and components that we offer. This role requires a combination of engineering skills and mechanical aptitude to effectively collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring the availability, quality, and cost-effectiveness of parts while adhering to project timelines and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supplier Management: Research and establish relationships with suppliers and manufacturers of heavy-duty vehicle components to source parts, negotiate pricing, and manage procurement processes.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assessments and inspections of parts to ensure they meet required standards and specifications for heavy-duty vehicle applications.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze costs associated with parts procurement and propose cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of parts specifications, supplier information, and procurement processes, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and sales, to ensure seamless integration of parts into bus product designs and fulfillment of customer requirements.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to internal teams and external customers regarding product specifications, applications, and troubleshooting.
  • Product Validation: Conduct product validation tests and analyses to ensure the reliability, performance, and compliance of bus solutions with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in parts procurement and management, enhancing the efficiency of our distribution operations.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in an engineering-related field (mechanical, electrical, industrial, etc.). Non-degreed candidates are encouraged to apply and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Strong technical aptitude with a basic understanding of heavy-duty vehicle engineering principles and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and engage with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities, particularly in the context of heavy-duty vehicle components.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical systems and components.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while adhering to project deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
