Role Overview:The RF System Engineer is a pivotal team member responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of P-25 public safety radio systems within the designated region, with a primary focus on Florida. This role involves field support for existing complex communication systems, leadership in talent development, collaboration with stakeholders, and active participation in the growth of the public safety industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Field Support:

    • Provide on-site support for large public safety communication systems, encompassing analog/digital radio networks, IP networks, microwave links, and wireless data.
    • Troubleshoot issues promptly, ensuring seamless functionality of critical communication infrastructure.
  2. Leadership and Mentorship:

    • Lead and mentor a team of technicians, contributing to their professional growth and skill development.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  3. Collaboration and Enhancement:

    • Work closely with management and customers to identify, present, and implement enhancement opportunities for public safety communication systems.
    • Contribute to the development of new offerings aligned with customer needs.
  4. Needs Assessment and Sales Support:

    • Develop comprehensive needs assessments for State and Local Government Agencies.
    • Collaborate with the Ci team during sales presentations to articulate technical aspects and address customer requirements.
  5. Project Management:

    • Generate and present project schedules and goals, ensuring strict adherence to timelines.
    • Proactively communicate project updates to stakeholders.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Participate in or lead discussions with customers, consultants, vendors, and other relevant personnel.
    • Actively engage with customers, prospects, partners, and internal stakeholders to foster collaboration.

Qualifications & Requirements:Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in maintaining large public safety radio networks.
  • Extensive knowledge of L3Harris land mobile radio (LMR) systems, simulcast, P25 radio technology, and microwave systems.
  • Technical proficiency in Linux, SQL server, Microsoft, Cisco networking devices, Firepower firewalls, VMware.
  • Strong computer skills, including networking knowledge.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications test equipment.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, networking principles, and network security.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.

Preferred:

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CCNP, CISSP).

Travel:Approximately 25%.

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
