This role is a part Test & Flight Operations, responsible for leading the Ground and Vehicle Operations Team focused on ensuring that ground systems and the flight vehicle are ready for successful launches.

As the leader of the Ground and Vehicle Launch Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the readiness and operational excellence of ground systems and New Glenn launch vehicles. This includes leading a large team of engineers and technicians, readying and maintaining ground systems, and preparing New Glenn's launch vehicle for flight. This position requires grit, operational excellence, the ability to build strong customer relationships, and delivering results!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead high-cadence, complex launch operations including ground systems readiness and operations, and New Glenn launch vehicle readiness, operations, and execution excellence.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians responsible for the creation, implementation, and enforcement of standards, processes, and procedures used to integrate, operate, and launch New Glenn launch vehicles.
  • Closely collaborate with multi-functional teams in the development, construction, and activation of multi-million-dollar launch pads, launch infrastructure, and ground support equipment projects.
  • Integrate with Blue Origin engine, booster, and space vehicle customers to assure operational and technical requirements are met and verified.
  • Model high standards for team members and maintain a culture that emphasizes safety, professionalism, and operational excellence across launch operations teams.
  • Manage personnel including recruiting, annual performance evaluations, training, supervising work, monitoring labor hours, and mentoring.
  • Constantly engage with internal customers (launch and orbital operations teams) to identify required services and ensure support is appropriate and timely.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or launch operations leadership or equivalent.
  • Recent and validated experience leading large programs (greater than $100M) through production, and transition to operations.
  • Experience with integration/test/launch of launch vehicles or human rated spacecraft of > 25.
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and effective decision-making.
  • Meaningful experience leading, mentoring, and running a large, complex team in an ambitious, fast paced environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
