QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:

Associate's degree in Accounting or related field with proven work experience in accounting techniques and practices; Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred;

Good communication skills - both written and verbal;

Extensive proven knowledge of accounting practices;

Experience with financial management of federal, state, or private grants;

Proven project management experience;

Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office and windows-based PC applications with specific knowledge and experience in working with Microsoft Excel;

Proven ability to solve complex financial problems, comprehend financial data, and analyze and summarize information;

Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

Analyzing financial information;

Preparing and analyzing financial reports;

Completing the reconciliation of general ledger accounts;

Completing and analyzing required financial reports related to college grants, contracts, and hurricane recovery;

Organizing and implementing the budgets for funded projects;

Preparing and submitting budget amendments;

Preparing financial reports to meet grant reporting requirements;

Tracking grant expenditures to meet project timelines;

Assisting with grant/contract proposals and applications, including providing basic project management support to Proposal Lead to ensure timelines are met, assigned work is completed and proposal budget aligns with workload and fiscal strategy;

Assisting with planning and budget development as needed;

Engaging in job related continuing education as well as college processes and procedures affecting Resource Development, Management, and Accounting.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Completing and analyzing required reports for federal, state and local agencies;

Providing supporting documentation to auditors and other external parties; Preparing budget proposals and salary projections;

Tracking expenses and revenues for grants;

Approving requisitions, travel expenses, and budget transfers;

Preparing account analysis, budget monitoring and making recommendations to the Grant PIs;

Acting as a liaison between and among Research and Institutional Effectiveness, the Grant's PI, and the granting agency;

Analyzing and reconciling accounts within Grants Administration and the Agency Funds;

Overseeing the purchasing policy and ensuring that purchases conform to applicable Federal law and standards of the OMB Uniform Guidance;

Providing supporting documentation to auditors and other external parties; Preparing required financial reports, account analysis and budget monitoring; Maintaining and overseeing Grant files and folders;

Assisting the Research and Institutional Effectiveness staff as needed and other duties as assigned by the Grants Administration Manager, Director of Grants Development, and / or Vice President of Research and Institutional Effectiveness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
