POSITION CONCEPT:

The Business Development Manager builds strong relationships with all customer segments in regulated and unregulated markets, provides customer solutions, and navigates internal governance processes to deliver revenue growth to meet or exceed company objectives and departmental goals. This position will knowledgeably promote Tampa Electric Company, its subscription-based products, and services such as lighting, smart services, etc.), to provide superior value and benefit to customers and to shareholders. The Business Development Manager develops industry expertise in their assigned market segments and proactively mines, cultivates, and developments opportunities for revenue conversion. The Business Development Manager is the customer's primary point of contact for interactions with the customer and the company. Works to ensure customer satisfaction while balancing the interest of the customer, regulatory agencies, operational delivery, and the company's shareholders.

Business Development Manager

Proactively develops and maintains favorable contacts with current and potential customers in assigned market segments. Under minimal supervision, develops and provides solutions to opportunities that are self-mined and that are provided through partner channels to contractual provide services to acquired, new, or upgraded infrastructure. Additionally, this role ensures customer satisfaction by researching and resolving customer problems, recommending modifications to the company's service, offerings, and coordinating negotiations with appropriate senior personnel.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Establish, develop and build strong customer relationships with corporate decision-makers through on-going personal interaction. Enhance relationships by acting as customer's point of contact for products and services related to Lighting and the grid-edge. In addition, gain credibility by becoming an industry expert in the customer's line of business through a full understanding of that industry including changes, pressures and advances, and identifying ways to increase the customer's success through facilitated by Tampa Electric.

2) Enhance internal relationships with appropriate Tampa Electric departments through increased communication, on-going personal interaction, and recognition for direct support in achieving customer satisfaction. Effectively communicate with management, departments and co-workers to continuously improve communication and delivery of products and services.

3) Form High-level estimates and proposals for opportunities by:
(a) Gathering requirements and developing a high-level work scope
(b) Work with internal SMEs to determine cost of execution and on-going service.
(c) Determine revenue requirements to support the appropriate IRR targets.
(d) Identify risk and mitigation strategies.

* Define customer requirements through engagement and drive successful operational delivery through internal accountability, accurate forecasting of opportunity closure, execution, commitment dates, and successful completion of customer scope. Maintain accurate database for pipeline of opportunities, their status and probability to close to support accurate resource forecasting and organizational planning.

4) Lead market segment strategies to gain industry knowledge and expertise. Understand customer funding mechanisms and support the development of customer business cases and attainment of the means to pay through grants and or other potentially available mechanisms.

5) Work with the appropriate internal departments to support customer negotiation of terms for services and, if needed, supporting performance contracts to execute obligations.

6) Coordinate market research efforts to identify market trends, issues and opportunities within assigned segments. Present at Trade Shows, Expos and Conferences.

7) Provide technical expertise to customers, trade allies and other Tampa Electric employees as it relates to technologies, rate evaluations, billing inquiries, conservation and energy management, future growth, and competitive programs and services.

Direct Supervision: N/A

Indirect Supervision: May provide leadership and training to internal company teams on
Lighting or other business related issues.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.


Licenses/Certification

Required: Valid driver's license and use of reliable personal vehicle necessary to perform field activities or meetings, anywhere in the state of Florida.


Experience

Required: Minimum 6 years of working with commercial or government customers.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

Required:

* Above average analytical and decision-making skills to perform analysis necessary to manage assigned accounts and opportunities; ability to work independently, and in a self-directed team; demonstrated proficiency in the knowledge of and ability to interpret photometric prints, project schedules, ; and knowledge of Tampa Electric's standard grid system.

* Must be familiar with the Florida Administrative Code, NEC, NESC and Company Tariff, Programs and Services.

* Above average oral and written communication skills required in order to effectively present findings and information to customers and internal constituents.

* Proficient planning and organizational skills.

* Autonomous work schedule to maximize time available for field activities and meet customer requests, document activities and follow up in a timely manner.

* Knowledge of lighting operations and terminology, to provide technical information to customers.

* Knowledge of and experience in comparing energy rates and performing load profile analysis to support high bill resolution and billing anomalies in order to ensure proper follow-up to customer concerns.

* Strong business application skills including MS Office Suite.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Driving up to 25% of the day; up to 75% spent in a combination of working with Customers, working outdoors, walking, bending, and climbing, and providing back-office support.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Physical ability to safely walk for long periods, climb and carry materials in the field; and attend site/field meetings in adverse conditions such as, severe hot/cold weather, rain and severe wind.

Senior Business Development Manager

SUPERVISION

Direct Supervision: Associate Business Development Manager, Business Development Manager

Indirect Supervision: May provide leadership and training to internal company teams on
Lighting or other business-related issues. Labor Resources.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.


Licenses/Certification

Required: Valid driver's license and use of reliable personal vehicle necessary to perform field activities or meetings, anywhere in the state of Florida.
Experience

Required: A minimum of 2 years' experience demonstrating proficiency in all duties of the Business Development Manager. Two years of experience in developing and winning government bids to support and execute projects related to municipal lighting in Florida, government bids, and design builds.
