Job title: Corporate Support Intern

Description:

  • This internship program is designed to provide on-the-job training and experience to upcoming or recent college graduates within the business administration and management fields, including HR, Operations, Contracts and Sales/Growth or Marketing.
  • Interns will engage in various work assignments, projects, and activities of varying corporate support, structured to enable the intern to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform as a business professional.
  • Interns will receive training and mentorship in planning and carrying out activities and assignments. This is a fixed-term position, typically up to 4 months.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides entry-level services, under supervision of more senior professional staff and/or faculty personnel, as appropriate to the day-to-day operating objectives of the unit.
  • Undertakes and/or participates in projects and programs designed to develop support skills appropriate to the needs of the organization.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of unit projects and initiatives within area of expertise.
  • Interacts directly with colleagues, clientele, and/or other internal or external constituencies in the planning of assignments and the resolution of day-to-day operational problems.
  • Receives guidance, training, and mentoring from professional personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments.
  • May provide day-to-day guidance and support to student employees and/or interns within area of specialty.
  • May undertake related academic studies or enrichment programs as appropriate to the specific objectives of the operating unit.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum Job Requirements: Currently working toward or recent graduate with Bachelor's or Master's degree in business administration or management, legal, HR, contracting or sales/growth fields; no previous experience required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex, detailed technical instructions.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Project development and planning skills.
  • Entry-level and/or advanced technical knowledge and skill at the Bachelor's or Master's of Science level within specified area of technical professional specialty.
  • Distinguishing Characteristics: We are looking for someone with strong computer skills, very strong interest, and a passion to learn. Familiarity with computer systems and software. Must have ability to work independently as needed.
  • Conditions of Employment: Must present transcripts prior to a formal offer being extended.

This is a fixed-term position, typically up to 4 months.

  • Working Conditions and Physical Effort : Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Value of Internship: The internship program offers practical work experience and an introduction to business administration, management and corporate support. This internship will involve challenging opportunities, projects, and working closely with a team. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the professional business environment and provides an opportunity to gain experience with the operations and support of a mid-sized government contractor.
