Job Description

Position Summary: All Climate First Employees must be willing to embrace the vision of an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economic system. A Commercial Lender is responsible for meeting and exceeding budgeted deposit, fee income, and commercial lending goals. Provide superior professional quality customer service to new and established Climate First Bank customers, including cross-selling of products and services. Develop new business opportunities, structuring, and closing of commercial loans, as well as maintaining and servicing a commercial loan portfolio. Represent Climate First Bank in its market through active participation in community affairs.

Primary Functions:

* Identify new loan opportunities through business development efforts;

* Achieve sales meetings and sales call goals and input into Salesforce;

* Cross-sell all applicable financial products, seeking to develop and service desirable and profitable loans;

* Solicit, negotiate, and coordinate closings;

* Grow energy efficient loan production (PV panels, EV charging, LEED certified buildings);

* Ensure production goals are met including DDA growth goals;

* Work with customers to explain the loan process and answer questions, advising borrowers on financial status and methods of payment;

* Monitor the credit quality of the loan portfolios to ensure that proper credit grades identify the level of risk to each loan is assigned; recommend grade changes where the risk has increased or decreased since its inception;

* Monitor any past due loans and collect payments; report all loans more than 10 days past due to the loan committee and coordinate collection efforts when problems or difficulties are encountered;

* Develop referral relationships with realtors, CPA's, builders, and other sources to proactively solicit business and conduct sales-related activities in order to meet loan goals;

* Evaluate, authorize, and recommend approval of commercial loans and lines of credit;

* Contribute to achieve all the relevant ESG goals including Community Reinvestment Act and multi-cultural lending goals;

* Adopt and practice a commitment to social, economic, environmental, and racial justice;

* Demonstrate interest in contributing to and working by Climate First Bank's Core Values;

* Possess the initiative to obtain education related to ESG and sustainability practices;

* Avoid single-use plastics; recycle diligently; conserve water and energy in office spaces; use local suppliers when possible, particularly those that are ESG compliant;

  • Demonstrate an understanding of and follow established Bank policies, procedures, and regulations, cognizant of transactions, inquiries that appear suspicious, obtaining reasonable and verifiable explanations, notifying the Compliance Officer when necessary; completion of all web-based compliance training; resolution of all issues concerning BSA report reviews of suspicious activity and or cash transactions.


Specific Requirements:

* Excellent sales, interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills.

* Superior customer service skills.

* Prior commercial lending experience required;

* Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.

* Educated in financial products and services, banking regulations and laws.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

* Solid organizational skills.

Physical/Work Conditions: In the performance of respective tasks and duties, all Climate First Bank employees are expected to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. While performing duties, employees are required to sit, talk, hear, lift up to 20 lbs., and may be required to work evenings and/or weekends, attend remote meetings and/or to travel.
