HDR is seeking to hire a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Orlando, Florida. Our team is looking for a candidate to meet the needs of our diverse client base including Water/Wastewater, Healthcare, Science and Technology, Federal, Industrial, Mission Critical and Commercial projects. We have a team with diverse experience and are actively seeking candidates with experience within one or more of the markets we serve. This individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger electrical engineers.

Primary Responsibilities

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team and designing projects from start to finish. This will include coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing members, and all other team members. You will be responsible for developing construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and performing RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation and overall construction administration. Passion, self-motivation, and strong leadership skills is a must to deliver technically excellent design solutions for our clients.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide detailed design and coordination of facilities with team members
  • Prepare construction documents with BIM/CADD platforms
  • Edit and prepare design specifications
  • Review fee estimates, cost opinions, and write technical documents
  • Perform QA/QC review of construction documents and technical reports
  • Select equipment using vendor software and communicate with sales reps
  • Track and meet design budgets
  • Perform load calculations
  • Attend and lead design meetings with other team members
  • Provide construction administration service throughout all phases of construction

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • PE License
  • Proven successful history of designing lighting and electrical systems for various types of buildings including one or more of the following: water/wastewater, healthcare, laboratory facilities, federal, utility, mission critical, and commercial office facilities.
  • Minimum of 10 years of consulting engineering experience
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivated and organized
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Work both independently and with a project team
  • Some travel will be required
  • An attitude and commitment to our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred

  • BIM/Revit experience
  • Experience in sustainable design/LEED
