Job Summary

EHS Manager leads, plans, develops and manages company policies for adhering to local, state, federal, as well as SG and PPL environment, health and safety regulations as well as ISO standards. Supervises day-to-day EHS activities as well as assigned projects for the Garden Grove, CA site. Assists with the design and development of work areas and work procedures. Responsible for development, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all local, state, federal and company environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Management Rep for ISO standards.

Essential Functions

Overall site responsibility for compliance with local, state, federal as well as SG and PPL environmental, health and safety regulations

  • Plan, develop and maintain company policies for adherence
  • Develop annual EHS action plan and facility training plan
  • Ensure site policies and procedures are communicated and coordinate/conduct appropriate training
  • Conduct site audits on a periodic basis to ensure compliance and monitor for potential issues
  • Manages internal and external stakeholders with regard to inquiries and inspections as related to EHS matters; maintain excellent relationship with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
  • Ensure local, state, federal and SG/PPL required permitting and reporting are completed accurately and timely
  • As a member of the management team, exhibits an awareness of the impact of EHS on the business and communicates such to management

Manages local EHS department activities to ensure that objectives are met

    • Organize, plan and supervise day-to-day EHS activities
    • Develop and oversee EHS projects as they relate to the site
    • Participates in self-development activities
    • Pillar Owner for the WCM-H&S and E&RP

Responsible for managing the site Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with the ISO standard

  • Participates in sustainability initiatives - "Green Team/Waste Minimization"

Cultivates relationships with regulatory agencies as well as other SG sites to facilitate open communication

Responsible for site investigations, root cause analysis, development of corrective actions, and report out for all EHS matters

  • Utilization of problem solving methodologies such as 5 Why, Root-cause Analysis, Fishbone, Kaizen, etc.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Safety Science, or similar is required. Master's Degree is preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in EHS Management Experience in a manufacturing Environment with a proven record of success in reducing occupational injuries is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in an ISO environment is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards for general industry as well as reporting requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of Environmental Regulations (EPA) as well as permitting/reporting requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of NH regulations with regard to EHS as well as permitting/reporting requirements

Preferred in:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP/ASP)
  • Certified Hazardous Waste Coordinator
  • OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer
  • DEC Certification

Leadership Skills:

  • Team leader and collaborator. Self-motivated with a sense of urgency to meet commitments & deadlines with limited direct supervision.
  • Customer focused (internal & external) with excellent conflict resolution skill set. Continuous learner and trainer.
  • Communicating and Influencing Skills:
  • Excellent interactive and communication skills essential-both written and verbal.
  • Able to anticipate the customers (internal & external) need and be able to communicate effectively to influence changes of behavior to exceed expectations

Problem Solving Skills:

Preferred effective use of analytical thought process and creativity to identify and implement solutions to issues that arise while maintaining site goals.

To make sure nothing is forgotten

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees' wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $99,900 to $154,800 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 15% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $112,887 to $174,924. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
