QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music;
  • Professional teaching experience at the secondary or college levels;
  • Knowledge, experience and proficiency in music performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include:

  • Develop the overall musicianship of select music students through via one to one instruction;
  • Develop the student's technical ability on a select musical instrument;
  • Develop the student's pedagogical knowledge of a select musical instrument;
  • Develop the student's historical understanding of a select musical instrument;
  • Adhere to all adjunct faculty training and procedural guidelines as expressed by college administration.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Schedule and maintain one to one instructional sessions with assigned students each week;
  • Develop rhythmical accuracy;
  • Develop pitch accuracy;
  • Develop technical skills;
  • Develop Lyrical Skills;
  • Develop musical expressiveness;
  • Development interpretation skills;
  • Development overall performance skills;
  • Submit weekly student progress reports to the Coordinator of Music Education;
  • Submit bi-weekly and final grades to the Coordinator of Music Education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations/critiques, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer, stage scenery, electronic equipment may be required. Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of backstage equipment, theatrical shop equipment, and theatre technology is essential. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
