You will oversee the day-to-day operations of our simulation lab, ensuring its functionality, safety, and alignment with curriculum objectives. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with faculty, students, and healthcare professionals to deliver an unparalleled educational experience.Some of the things you will do:
  • Ensures technical support of simulation manikins, software and other equipment in the skills and simulation laboratory; initiates and follows through with maintenance and repairs and ensures maintenance of appropriate warranties.
  • Collaborates with faculty in the planning, designing, organizing, and delivering of simulated laboratory activities for students.
  • Manages the set-up and clean-up for all activities, including all equipment, technology, and patient scenarios scheduled in the simulation laboratory.
  • Maintains the simulation laboratories at all campuses in a clean, neat, organized condition conductive to learning.
  • Participates in division activities, tours, and recruiting events.
  • Prepares and coordinating activities within the simulation laboratory center.
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing school or university.
  • Florida unencumbered Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license.
  • Minimum two (2) years of proven experience in clinical nursing practice in acute care settings.
  • Current/active AHA CPR.
  • Meet and maintain health requirements of health care affiliation agreements.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Education or begin the process of obtaining certification.
  • Must have current knowledge of nursing to provide patient care safely and competently within the scope of practice set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing.

JOB SUMMARY:Under general supervision, the Nursing Simulation Laboratory Manager collaborates and manages all activities within the simulation laboratory center including tours, recruiting events, maintaining and conducting inventory of supplies, equipment, and learning sources. Ensures compliance with safety and other regulations. Assists with creating, writing, and offering simulated activities for nursing students.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains a record for inventory (by computer spreadsheet) and requisitions supplies as needed with the approval of the department chairs
  • Ensures technical support of simulation manikins, software and other equipment in the skills and simulation laboratory; initiates and follows through with maintenance and repairs and ensures maintenance of appropriate warranties.
  • Collaborates with faculty in the planning, designing, organizing, and delivering of simulated laboratory activities for students.
  • Manages the set-up and clean-up for all activities, including all equipment, technology, and patient scenarios scheduled in the simulation laboratory.
  • Maintains the simulation laboratories at all campuses in a clean, neat, organized condition conductive to learning.
  • Participates in division activities, tours, and recruiting events.
  • Prepares and coordinating activities within the simulation laboratory center.
  • Begin the full accreditation process for the simulation laboratory center.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and offers professional development to adjunct faculty, simulation technicians, faculty, and students to ensure the experiences meet the learning outcomes;
  • Orientates all faculty, adjuncts and students to new equipment, scenarios, or instruction for best practices in simulated nursing education.
  • Utilizes current research and literature findings to integrate best practices into simulated nursing activities;
  • Obtains quotes and requisitions for supplies and equipment.
  • Ensures safety and maintains OSHA standards within the simulation laboratory; to include the appropriate disposal of hazardous waste and sharps.
  • Explores new equipment and instructional innovations for nursing simulated activities.
  • Maintains health requirements and necessary certifications as per the Indian River State College hospital affiliation agreements.
  • Maintains an active program of professional development related to individual, professional and institutional needs;
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget proposal.
  • Keeps current with simulation standards and current nursing practice standards.
  • Participates in division meetings staff, faculty, and administrators to discuss simulation laboratory activities, schedules, and equipment needs.
  • Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing school or university.
  • Florida unencumbered Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license.
  • Minimum two (2) years of proven experience in clinical nursing practice in acute care settings.
  • Current/active AHA CPR.
  • Meet and maintain health requirements of health care affiliation agreements.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Education or begin the process of obtaining certification.
  • Must have current knowledge of nursing to provide patient care safely and competently within the scope of practice set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to use data and assessment tools in the evaluation and implementation of instruction;
  • Ability to develop, edit, and lead simulated nursing activities.
  • Proven computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and Windows applications;
  • Experience with health care simulation equipment and software.
  • Ability to maintain strict accuracy and be detail oriented.
  • Excellent organizational, communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a diverse population and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with diverse populations including students, faculty, staff, and supervisors/administrators.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of fifty (50) pounds. This position also requires the ability to lift heavy boxes and materials, to move equipment from room to room, and to work for extended periods at a computer station. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
